Summer is Here! FDA Approved Organic Sunscreen!

Summer is in full swing in most parts of the country. To many, this means long days by the pool, vacations at the sea, amusement parks and myriad other outdoor activities. While most of us don’t usually consider their skin planning their vacations and other outdoor plans, if your summer revolves around being in the sun a lot, you need to think about how to protect your skin.

Sunscreen is the simplest solution, but if you’ve ever stood in front of the sun care aisle at your favorite drug store, you know there isn’t just a huge disparity in price, there are literally dozens of manufacturers, product types, ingredients, and, most confusing of all, a huge difference in SPF.

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, and it is a laboratory measure of the effectiveness of sunscreen. Essentially, the higher the SPF, the more protection it offers against the sun’s rays. However, what isn’t widely known is that after SPF 30, the amount of protection wanes considerably. When you use SPF 30, only 1/30 of the sun’s rays reach your skin, which means you are protected against 97% of the rays. However, SPF 60 doesn’t mean you’re twice as protected. The chemical details of how this works can be a little mind-numbing, but generally speaking, although there IS more protection in a higher SPF, it’s not always necessary. The most important thing is to make sure to apply it about 15 minutes before exposure to the sun and to reapply every two hours of so.

Here at Skin Perfection, we offer FDA-approved, organic sunscreen that will protect you from the harmful rays that encourage photo aging (which makes us look older much more quickly!) without using chemicals, toxins, nano particles or parabens! Instead, it’s infused with green tea, Vitamins A and E, and zinc and titanium oxides! So if you want to protect your skin from the potentially cancer-causing UVA and UVB rays, as well as premature wrinkles and other signs of aging, without using harsh ingredients, check out our SPF 30 and SPF 50 here!
